The Star Versa-Lathe concept was developed to introduce the new generation of brake service professionals to the industry's premier line of brake service equipment.  The Versa-Lathe offers true Star quality and service at an entry level price. 

With fewer options, Versa-Lathes are simpler to operate and are fully capable of handling virtually all brake service needs.  Extremely versatile, too, because the opportunity always exists for adding a second Star disc, drum or combination lathe head.

STANDARD VERSA-LATHE FEATURES:

  • Massive gray iron castings for rigidity
  • Hand-scraped dovetail ways for precision
  • Line-bored, graphited bronze spindle bearings are exactly matched to spindles for lifetime accuracy
  • 3" steel alloy spindles are hardened and ground
  • Interchangeable hardened and ground steel alloy arbors and cones
  • 3/4 HP motor delivers ample power for deepest cuts and maximum operating efficiency

Additional disc lathe features include twin cutting bars to reface both surfaces simultaneously for perfectly parallel surfaces.  The infinitely variable feed rates produce precise, constant finishes.  The Star micro-finish requires no supplementary grinding to meet OEM finish specifications.

Drum lathes offer two cutting feeds, .015" rough cut and .005" finish cut.  Six-sided disposable cutting tools are used to eliminate tool sharpening.  Automatic feed shut-off is standard.  Lathes micro-finish drums from 6" to 32" in diameter, up to 7-1/2" in depth.

Mobile bench/cabinets are heavy-duty, welded steel units requiring very little space.  They are an integral part of the lathe, supporting the late head, housing the motor and providing maximum rigidity.  In addition, bench/cabinets are mounted on 6" wheels for mobility and even more versatility.  Bench-tops are pre-drilled to allow adding another disc or drum lathe head.  Convenient accessory storage board organizes tools and saves set-up time.  Locking cabinet doors are included for security.
